White Says Aldo Was Mistranslated, Never Said He Pushed Mendes To Hype UFC 179

By BJPENN.COM News - August 29, 2014

Earlier in the week Jose Aldo shoved Chad Mendes during the staredowns to promote UFC 179, there was some skepticism regarding the legitimacy of the shove, or if Aldo was trying to hype his fight against Mendes. Shortly after the altercation Aldo admitted that he shoved Mendes to hype the fight, which Dana White is saying is false.

Dana spoke to UFC.com:

“He said he didn’t fake it, (that) the push was real,”

“This has happened before,” White told UFC.com. “Aldo said, ‘That’s not what I said.’

“Every time they say something in Portuguese and it gets translated into English – I got a call that (Renan) Barao had come out and said he wasn’t being paid enough money. So we called him, and he told me he never said that – it gets mixed up in translation.”
