Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1 MMA) became the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion last weekend in Mexico City, this after he submitted Cain Velasquez in the third-round of their title unification bout at UFC 180.

After Werdum’s stunning victory, many fans were left wondering who would be next to challenge the newly crowned “Badddest man on the planet.”

UFC President Dana White hosted a Periscope Q&A session with fans yesterday, where he was asked who would be next to fight Werdum:

“It’s either going to be Stipe or Arlovski,” White said. “Dos Santos should get that fight, I agree. Dos Santos should get that fight, but he’s hurt. So he can’t take it.”

Arlovski has gone 3-0 since making his return to the UFC ranks. “The Pitbull” was most recently seen in action at last month’s UFC 187 event, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over perennial contender Travis Browne.

Meanwhile, Stipe Miocic was also in action last month, where he earned a dominant fifth-round TKO victory over Mark Hunt. Prior to that, Miocic suffered a unanimous decision loss to the aforementioned Junior dos Santos at December’s UFC on FOX 13 event.

Rumors had been swirling yesterday that Arlovski had already been selected as the next challenger for Werdum, but Dana White shut down those rumors with the following statement:

“We haven’t made a decision yet,” White said. “We’re still working on the heavyweight title fight. I know there’s reports out there that Arlovski has it, but that’s not true.”
