The final bout of the preliminaries was more of a kickboxing bout than a mixed martial arts match. Both men took to the center of the octagon and landed their fair share of strikes and it started off as a relatively even bout. However, as time went on one fighter was privy to the strategy of his opponent and started to run away with the fight.
Musoke looked to be picking Tumenov apart with body kicks in the opening round depsite Tumenov constantly catching them. Musoke’s gas tank started to empty toward the end of the first round and that’s when Tumenov took the bout and ran with it.
Again, he started to catch Musoke’s body kicks but this time he actually landed counters. Musoke’s mouthpiece fell out multiple times in the final round showing just how tired he was. It was a hard fought win for Tumenov, but his hand was raised in victory after fifteen minutes of action.
Albert Tumenov def. Nico Musoke by way of Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
