As Henderson threw his signature overhand right, Mousasi landed a counter shot to the back of the head that dazed Henderson. Henderson tumbled over toward the octagon fencing and took a couple unprotected shots. Even though they were unprotected, they were not big punches and Henderson was trying to get out of the bad situation. The referee stepped in and called the fight before Henderson could be given a chance to fight back.
The referee shoved Mousasi off of Henderson, and Henderson continued to try and get in Mousasi’s guard. He did not know the referee pushed Mousasi off as it felt like it happened naturally. It could be argued that Henderson was navigating on auto-pilot, but he did look a bit lost.
Henderson protested the stoppage but it was final; he had lost by way of technical knockout.
