UFC Fight Night 74 Results: Magny rebounds from tough loss and earns win over Silva

By BJPENN.COM News - August 23, 2015

Neil Magny WINS

Erick Silva has had quite the path to “UFC Fight Night 74” before finally finding an opponent in Neil Magny. Silva was originally scheduled to face Rick “The Horror” Story, but Story was forced to pull out of their fight on two separate occasions due to injuries. Tonight, Silva showed the effects of a rough weight cut in his performance as he was sluggish by the time the second round started.

Magny may have had multiple weight this month as he just fought on August 1st, but his energy was through the roof! He did not slow down at all throughout tonight’s fifteen minute performance and he was consistent in his attack.

Silva landed several nice leg kicks throughout the fight, but he was never truly able to pick up any momentum at all. Silva threatened a rear naked choke early on when he flattened Magny out, but he was in no position to attempt the hold at all. Magny landed several takedowns on his way to the decision victory and Silva showed a great deal of determination by repeatedly making it back to his feet.

All in all, this was not a very exciting matchup but Magny did an amazing job at pushing the pace and dictating where the action went for the entire fight.

Neil Magny def. Erick Silva by way of Unanimous Decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)
