UFC FIGHT NIGHT 30 RESULTS: Machida Knocks Munoz Out In Round 1

By bjpenndotcom - October 26, 2013

What an exciting end to an already exciting card. The fans in the United Kingdom will be leaving happy.

Lyoto Machida and Mark Munoz had a very long feeling out process with over a minute passing by before the first significant strike landed. Unfortunately for Munoz, none of the strikes went in his favor.

In a round that saw so little action, Machida was getting a huge advantage in controlling where the action went inside the octagon. When nobody had the clear upperhand with strikes, the judges would have given Machida the nod because of his control.

Machida found his distance after connecting with two kicks to the body of Munoz. Machida’s then landed a head kick that sent Munoz crashing to the canvas. Machida showed great sportsmanship and didn’t execute any follow up strikes; he knew it was over and the referee waved it off.

Lyoto Machida defeated Mark Munoz by way of Knockout (Head Kick) 3:10 of Round 1
