‘UFC Fight Night 29: Maia vs. Shields’ Official For Oct. 9 In Brazil

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially announced its plans for the highly anticipated ‘Fight Night 29’ event in Brazil.

Set to take place on October 9 at the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil, ‘UFC Fight Night 29: Maia vs. Shields’ will air on Fox Sports 1 and feature a welterweight clash between Jake Shields and Demian Maia in the evenings main event.

So far eight-bouts are official for the recently confirmed Wednesday fight night.

Demian Maia is currently riding high on a three-fight win streak following his drop to the UFC’s welterweight division. The former middleweight title challenger has bested the likes of Rick Story, Dong Hyun Kim and Jon Fitch to cement himself as a top 10 170 pounder and put him on the path to a title shot.

For Shields, after a scary stint of back-to-back losses to GSP and Jake Ellenberger he has bounced back and put himself on a nice little run. His most recent victory came in June when he beat Tyron Woodley via split decision.

The lineup for ‘Fight Night 26’ so far is as follows:

Demian Maia vs. Jake Shields
Dong Hyun Kim vs. Erick Silva
Rony Jason vs. Jeremy Stephens
Matt Hamill vs. Thiago Silva
Joey Beltran vs. Fabio Maldonado
Raphael Assuncao vs. T.J. Dillashaw
Rodrigo Damm vs. Hacran Dias
Chris Cariaso vs. Iliarde Santos
