Kelvin Gastelum controlled every aspect of the fight and dominated Jake Ellenberger. Ellenberger seemed to be one step behind Gastelum every step of the way and it made Gastelum look like a superstar. There was a moment in the first round where Ellenberger cracked Gastelum with a couple solid punches, but Gastelum was unfazed by them and proceeded to bring the fight where he wanted it.
Ellenberger was successful in dragging Gastelum to the mat with a takedown toward the end of the round, but Gastelum scrambled and ended up taking Ellenberger’s back! It was a lighting quick transition, and as soon as you could process what had happened he transitioned to a rear naked choke. Ellenberger put up no fight once he was trapped in the hold and submitted right away.
