Abel Trujillo and Jamie Varner each earned $50,000 in bonuses for their awesome performance at Saturday’s UFC 169 event, with Abel taking home an additional $75,000 for the bouts stunning “Knockout of the Night” finish and Jamie an additional 25k for “Fight of the Night.”
UFC President Dana White announced the winners at the evenings post UFC 169 news conference. The post-fight bonus awards typically are $50,000, but White said with no submission finishes on the card, that Abel would receive the additional 25k for his stunning KO victory over Varner, who got an additional 25k himself for the “Fight of the Night” loss.
UFC 169 took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. . The main card aired live on pay-per-view with the prelims showing on FOX Sports 1.
Abel Trujillo and Jamie Varner went back and forth for the majority of 2 rounds in what can only be described as a near 2-round war. But, it would ultimately be “The Killa” who would come out on top after landing a haymaker that sent the former WEC champ crashing to the canvas.
