Two Planned 2014 UFC Pay-Per-Views in Canada appear to be moving elsewhere

By Chris Taylor - June 29, 2014

Dear Canada,

The octagon will return to the great city of Montreal… eventually.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently revealed a new date for its return to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Originally slated for December of 2014, Managing Director for UFC Operations Tom Wright informed media members at the “UFC Fight Night 43” post-fight press conference that the event has been postponed to March of 2015.

Je suis désolé Canadian fans!

Perhaps the UFC is waiting for the return of former welterweight kingpin and homegrown talent Georges St. Pierre before coming back to Montreal.

If that news wasn’t enough to get Canadian fight fans blood boiling this just might do the trick… In addition to the Montreal-card loss, the UFC 178 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which was scheduled to go down on September 27, 2014 inside Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, may also be on the move.

Which means the Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafson title fight rematch will go with it, likely to Las Vegas, Nevada.

No indication if this recent news is a result of the dismal pay-per-view numbers generated by Canada’s latest event (UFC 174), which was held earlier this month in Vancouver, British Columbia.
