Thiago Alves to Return Against Matt Brown at FS1 Debut

By bjpenndotcom - May 13, 2013

Add another fantastic matchup to the list as Thiago Alves vs Matt Brown gets thrown onto the first ever UFC event on Fox Sports 1.

Thiago ‘The Pitbull’ Alves has been out of action for over a year now. His last fight saw him lose to Martin Kampmann, in a bout that the welterweight slugger had been winning on the scorecards, to only see it end by Kampmann’s guillotine in the third.

Alves will be looking for his first win in almost two years, and is currently (2-4) in his last six fights inside the octagon. It’s hard to say that he will be fighting for his job, but Thiago Alves will most likely be fighting to stay relevent in the UFC’s stacked welterweight division.

Matt Brown on the other hand will be looking to extend a 5 fight winning streak, and with 4 of them coming by way of KO or TKO this fight is shaping up to be a barnburner to say the least. If Matt Brown can end this fight the same way he has in his most recent bouts he will surely cement his name among the UFC’s top welterweight contenders.

When Alves meets Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown on August 17th one thing is certain; these two will sling leather, and there will be a great fight for the fans.
