Jake Shields scored a quick 1st round submission win last night over Brian Foster in the main event of WSOF 17. The win made Shields the #1 contender in the WSOF’s welterweight division, earning him the opportunity to challenge Rousimar Palhares for the welterweight strap.

Shields spoke after the bout about why he isn’t afraid of Palhares and his leg locks, which he most recently used to dismantle Jon Fitch.

“He is holding my belt. I’m going to go out there and whip his ass. He is a dirty fighter. He is breaking everyone’s legs and ankles, but I”m going to go out there and take his knee out. I’m not scared of him and I’m going to bring it to him.”
