Rousey doesn’t take crap, shuts down journalist asking about her pay

By bjpenndotcom - October 20, 2015

Recently during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey stated that she was the highest paid fighter on the UFC roster. Her comments garnered a lot of media attention, especially given that UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor claims he is the highest paid fighter on the UFC roster.

Ronda Rousey serious

During the UFC 193 press conference in Melbourne, a media member brought to Rousey’s attention the pay gap between the Australian women’s soccer team and the Australian men’s soccer team.

Rousey patiently listened to the question while members of the audience booed the reporter. When the question was finished being asked, Rousey delivered a response that was nothing short of spectacular.

“I think that how much you get paid should have something to do with how much money you bring in. I’m the highest paid fighter not because Dana and Lorenzo wanted to do something nice for the ladies — they do it because I bring in the highest numbers. They do it because I make them the most money, and I think that the money they make should be proportionate to the money that they bring in.”
