After Luke Rockhold submitted Michael Bisping this past Friday at UFC Fight Night Sydney, he cemented his place in the top of the UFC’s middleweight division.
Rockhold spoke after the bout about his ranking, which is below Jacare Souza, a man Rockhold defeated back in 2011 to win the Strikeforce middleweight championship.
He spoke to MMAJunkie.
“All respect to ‘Jacare,’ but I’ll be beat you again. I’m the No. 1 contender, and I’ll prove it any time I have to.”
“I don’t why he’s above me in the rankings. That definitely upsets me, people pegging him as the No. 1 contender.”
“I think I’ve grown more. I believe I’m more dynamic than him. I beat him the first time, and I was young. I was very nervous going into that fight. I wasn’t very technical, and I’m a different man now.”
