Late Thursday evening, UFC officials announced that recently signed light heavyweight grappler Robert Drysdale (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his octagon debut at UFC 167 in Las Vegas when he takes on Cody Donovan (8-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC).
Drysdale was expected to make his octagon debut at August’s UFC 163 event in Brazil agaisnt Ednaldo Oliveira, however, he was forced to withdraw from the contest due to a staph infection. All six of Drysdale’s MMA victories have come via submission, with all of his victims tapping-out within the first 5-minutes of the fight.
Meanwhile, Cody Donovan will be looking to rebound from the first-round knockout loss he suffered to Ovince St. Preux at August’s “UFC Fight Night 26” event in Boston. Prior to that, Donovan was riding a four-fight win streak which included a first-round knockout of Nick Penner in his UFC debut.
UFC 167 takes place November 16 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between current champ Georges St. Pierre and #1 contender Johny Hendricks.
