Big news for the UFC! With the Labor Party’s candidate in office, and the ban of MMA events in a caged enclosure likely to be revoked, the UFC has set a date for their Melbourne debut, which will reportedly be held in the 50,000 plus seat Etihad Stadium.

The original report came from The Daily Telegraph, which is reporting that the event will go down on November 14th 2015 at UFC 193, with the UFC considering draws such as Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey, and Conor McGregor for a main event slot.

UFC spokesperson Isabelle Hodge spoke about the potential event saying:

“In anticipation of the ban being lifted, [UFC Canada Australia exec] Tom Wright has been working with and will continue to work with our business partners in Australia, in conjunction with UFC leadership in Las Vegas, in the planning of a major event in Melbourne. Looking forward to great news soon.”

“We only get one chance to make a first impression. I remember when we first went into Toronto, Canada, and (UFC owner) Lorenzo Fertita said ‘this is going to be our Super Bowl’. It’s the same with Melbourne. That will be our mandate. It’s why this card has to be headlined with a world title fight. We cannot do an event of this magnitude without putting a belt on the line.”

What do you think PENNation? Who do you want to see headline a potential card in this massive stadium?
