Report: Erick Silva vs. Dong Hyun Kim Set For October 9

By BJPENN.COM News - August 8, 2013

According to multiple reports, a welterweight tilt between Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim is set for October 9.

UFC officials have yet to confirm this bout as official. The UFC offices have also not yet confirmed an event for October 9, which is believed to be a ‘Fight Night’ event on FS1.

Erick Silva is one of the UFC’s most promising welterweight prospects. He recently bounced back from a defeat against Jon Fitch, that earned the two ‘Fight of the Night’ honors, with a win over Jason High.

Kim, is currently riding a two-fight winning streak after beating both Paulo Thiago and Siyar Bahadurzada.

Silva’s coach, Josuel Distak, confirmed the bout with MMA Fighting:

“Erick Silva will fight again in October, against that guy that defeated Paulo Thiago,” Distak told MMAFighting.com on Wednesday. “It’s a tough fight, (Kim) will try to do what (Jon) Fitch did to Erick, but Erick is way better now. He had weight issues before that fight, but he no longer has that problem.”

“We are going for the knockout,” Josuel added. “Erick needs to avoid the takedowns and keep the fight standing. If he goes to the ground, we are trained too.”
