UFC president Dana White had big expectations for UFC 189 and even with Jose Aldo dropping out, it looks like those expectations are still being reached.
On The Jim Rome Show, White revealed that after it was announced Aldo was out and Mendes was win, more tickets were sold.
“What’s crazy is, that fight [Aldo-McGregor] gets canceled. We bring in Chad Mendes, the gate in Vegas at the MGM $6.8 million, we put in Mendes, the gate went to $7.1 M. We actually had to add bleachers in there. The event is the biggest gate we’ve ever done in the U.S.”
That’s impressive, why do you think sales saw a boost after Aldo was out and Mendes was in?
