Ramsey Nijem Took Offense to Being the Underdog against Beneil Dariush

By bjpenndotcom - April 11, 2014

Ramsey Nijem dominated Beneil Dariush in their bout at ‘UFC Fight Night 39’ much to the surprise of the bookies who labeled him as the underdog.

Nijem stated during the post fight press conference that he took offense to being called the underdog out of the two and found it disrespectful.

Beneil Dariush made a successful UFC debut when he defeated Charlie Brenneman in quick fashion. He forced him to submit and it was a huge upset, so bookies believed he had what it took to knock off another UFC veteran in Nijem.

While Dariush may have the potential to become a Top 10 player, he was simply not prepared for the version of Ramsey Nijem that showed up to the octagon on Friday.

To play Devil’s Advocate, Ramsey Nijem was previously a -300 favorite in his fight against James Vick at ‘UFC Fight Night 26’ and dropped the ball there. He was submitted in under a minute of the first round. Nijem has shown great improvement since that fight and he should not be considered an underdog anytime soon.
