Pettis/Aldo Superfight Already Off? Aldo May Defend Featherweight Title Before Pettis Heals from Injury

By bjpenndotcom - February 12, 2014

After Jose Aldo’s dominating performance at UFC 169, it was all but confirmed that his next bout inside the octagon would be against UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis. Ariel Helwani of UFC Tonight is now reporting that Pettis’ injury could stop this superfight from taking place.

Anthony Pettis suffered a torn PCL in his victorious performance against Benson Henderson at UFC 164. Pettis dethroned the lightweight champion by forcing him to submit to an armbar late in the first round. Pettis underwent surgery to repair the torn ligament in December and hoped for an early return.

Next week, Pettis will be visiting his doctor to see how soon he can make his comeback. If the timetable does not match up to Dana White’s liking, White said that he would like to see Jose Aldo defend his UFC Featherweight Title again.
