The UFC plans on trying to put together Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor again, this time for the unified interim featherweight title. UFC president Dana White already said that that’s the next fight for both men and it does make sense, but will it actually happen.

McGregor seems confident that Aldo will not step in the octagon across from him and actually has stated that he thinks this might be it for Aldo.

Aldo of course says when he’s healed up from his rib injury and ready to go, then he’s going to smash Conor and so on and so forth. But is Aldo afraid of McGregor? Tony McGregor, Conor’s father, says he doesn’t think so.

Here’s what he said on The MMA Hour:

“Personally, I don’t think [Aldo] is afraid of him. I just don’t know why he won’t face him.”

“I’d hate to think a champion is afraid of any fighter, you know? I have to have respect for all fighters. Anyone who steps into the Octagon, I have respect for them. I don’t know why he pulled out of this, but the fact of the matter is, he did. When it was confirmed that he wasn’t fighting, it was a big disappointment for us Irish fans all over the world.

“But I knew actually, when Chad Mendes was put forward, I knew it was a win-win situation for the fans.

“We have the Aldo fight back on … and it’s even bigger now.”
