Paige VanZant: ‘I Want To Follow In Ronda Rousey’s Footsteps’

By BJPENN.COM News - September 5, 2015

UFC strawweight sensation Paige VanZant will take on Alex Chambers at tonight’s UFC 191, taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fight will open up the main card on PPV and VanZant will look to make it 3 wins in a row. She’s currently undefeated in the octagon and has an exclusive contract with Reebok, one of only a handful of fighters to achieve such a feat.

She’s also only 21 years old and already one of the most recognizable fighters in the UFC. It’s obvious if she keeps winning than the stars are the limit for the Team Alpha Male fighter.

Recently in an interview for the LA Times, VanZant was asked about bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey and had this to say:

“Obviously I want to follow Ronda, she’s done amazing things and it just shows me how far I can take this. I would love to follow in her footsteps. I want to continue winning fights and create a name for myself and maybe I’ll get the opportunities that she is getting.”

“I look at ( UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk) as a potential opponent, but also do love that we have someone like her as champion, especially for the division. She’s an amazing fighter and [I] look forward to seeing her fight Claudia. That will really solidify her as champion.”
