Nate Diaz Suspended Indefinitely For Derogatory Tweets Towards Bryan Caraway

The disciplinarians at the Ultimate Fighting Championship are busy this month.

After taking away Pat Healy’s UFC 159 post-fight bonus money for a failed drug test, the UFC has awarded Bryan Caraway Healy’s $65,000 Submission of the Night bonus.

Fellow UFC lightweight Nate Diaz does not approve.

The younger Diaz brother took to Twitter to tweet his thoughts on the situation.

And in case that wasn’t enough:

UFC officials confirmed the suspension with ESPN on Thursday:

We are very disappointed by Nate Diaz’s comments, which are in no way reflective of our organization. Nate is currently suspended pending internal investigation and we will provide further comment once the matter has been decided.”

Healy’s victory over Jim Miller is being changed to a no-contest and he will be suspended for 90 days. Diaz’s is suspended indefinitely, with more information likely to come in the next few days. The Diaz family is no stranger to marijuana-related offenses. Nate’s older brother Nick has been suspended twice in his career for marijuana use.

It’s worth noting that Bryan Caraway was the one who initially campaigned for $65,000 in bonus money before UFC 159, which Dana White agreed to. Caraway submitted Johnny Bedford with a guillotine choke in the third round.

It’s too bad Diaz and Caraway aren’t competing in the same weight class..
