Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao were randomly submitted to urine samples back in 2009 when talks of their bout actually started materializing.

Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole released a report of going-ons behind the scenes with drug tests within this fight.

Iole when talking about Olympic style drug testing stated, “Manny said there had to be a period of time before the fight where they will stop the testing. We negotiated that and we had an agreement on that and Mayweather walked away from it.” Even though nothing materialized for the olympic testing, Keith Kizer actually randomly took a urine sample from “Pac-Man” and “Money”.

“But Keith Kizer, then the executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission, didn’t give up hope. He ordered surprise urine tests on both men, which were taken on Dec. 30, 2009.

Both men passed the surprise tests, though they did not test blood or perform a carbon isotope ratio test on either man.”

It’s reassuring knowing that two of of the biggest athletes of a sport tested clean for their possible dream match at one point. Let’s hope the results will come back the same this year.
