Makdessi — ‘People Who Are Doubting Me Against Cerrone Are Uneducated’

By BJPENN.COM News - May 20, 2015

John Makdessi WINS

Donald Cerrone has been training for months to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov in what could possibly have been a title eliminator fight at “UFC 187”. Nurmagomedov suffered a leg injury while training that forced him out of the bout, and John Makdessi stepped up to take the fight on short notice just days after having his hand raised in the octagon.

People are doubting Makdessi, and he is getting sick of it.

The lightweight may not be ranked in the top ten of his division, but he still boasts an impressive record with four of his last five performances being wins. “Some people are uneducated,” Makdessi said to MMAjunkie. “People never really know those underrated fighters, but you look at my past, and you look at my history of fighting, and I’ve always been exciting. I always fought top guys in the division.”

Makdessi’s most recent performance against Shane Campbell at UFC 186 was masterful to say the least. Makdessi knocked Campbell out in the opening round with only seconds remaining in the bout. Do you think he can pull off a similar performance against Donald Cerrone, or will Cerrone be moving on to bigger and better things after “UFC 187”?
