Kimbo Slice Wants Several More Fights Before Retirement

By BJPENN.COM News - October 11, 2015

Kimbo Slice’s return to mixed martial arts at “Bellator 138: Unfinished Business” against Ken Shamrock may not have been a world-class technical display of skill, but it did more than get the job done. The main-event drew over two million viewers to SPIKE so they could see a fight take place that was years in the making. Now that his rivalry with Shamrock is past him, Slice is prepared to make an impact in Bellator while being a ratings-monster.

“I gotta a lot fans out there that love to see me fight,” Slice told MMA Fighting. “That’s one thing you can’t change, you can’t stop. I’m going to put a***s in seats. Those numbers are going to be there. I’m going to fight and they know when you’re coming to watch a Kimbo Slice fight – no matter who the f*** his opponent is – that’s gonna be a fight. Somebody’s getting knocked the f*** out. Something’s happening in that fight, in that match with Kimbo and whoever.”

There aren’t many high-profile names for Slice to fight, though, as the Bellator heavyweight division is still less established than other divisions in the company. Still, with names like Kimbo Slice, Cheick Kongo and Bobby Lashley in the picture there will be plenty of stars to be made.

Slice was excited to secure a win over an established veteran like Shamrock, but he is able to take the win in stride and view every win as his biggest.

“Considering me, how I came into the sport, every fight is a moment. Every fight is record breaking. Every fight is something new. Because of that right there, I love it. I look forward to it. I have something that’s going to follow me the years after I’m gone and I’m going to stay at it.”
