‘FIXED? That Shamrock Fight Wasn’t FIXED’

By Chris Taylor - October 13, 2015

Kimbo Slice (5-2 MMA) returned to the cage for the first time in over five years this past June, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over MMA legend Ken Shamrock in the main event of Bellator 138.

Kimbo recently joined The MMA Hour to talk about his successful return to MMA, including when he will fight next, and the slight controversy that surrounded his last fight with Shamrock:

“It felt good. You kinda miss it. You know what to expect from it. You just build up a confidence level you know because all those years you f–king learned to love the sport. What I took for granted back then, I kinda embrace now, which is the ground game.”

On surviving Shamrock’s choke hold:

“You kinda know where you’re at, so you don’t tap,” stated Slice. “It’s like, worst case, you just wake the f–k up and that’s it. No matter what happens, don’t bring yourself to tap. Considering that was happening in the back of my mind, I was just listening to my corners scream and yell, remembering the ritual: go to your back, go from there.”

He continued:

“Just remembering those steps,” he recalls, “I was able to pull that s–t off.”

When asked for his thoughts on the idea that the fight with Shamrock may have been fixed, Slice had the following response:

“I find it humorous, to be honest with you.”

As for when fans can expect Kimbo to return to the cage, the 41-year-old suggested February 2016. Slice also stated that he hopes to compete six more times before calling it a career.
