Right after their brawl at WSOF 22, UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov said he requested a fight with Nate Diaz.

Now, it appears Khabib has had a change of heart. He told tofight.ru, that he no longer wants that fight because it would disrespect his fans.

“If I take a fight with [Nate] Diaz, then I won’t get respect from my fans. Everyone knows this is an easy fight for me.”

“I need to respect his fans. They want me to fight in fierce battles against the best opponents. I have to respect my fans and I will accept the challenge against only the best athletes.”

A lot of people have been pointing to a fight with Diaz or Anthony Pettis as a suitable match up for Khabib’s return. Looks like he just took Diaz off the list.
