Kenny Florian agrees with Diaz: GSP is scared of Silva

Former UFC welterweight title challenger, Nick Diaz, recently stated in an interview that he believes he’s fighting Anderson Silva this January because former UFC champ Georges St. Pierre is afraid to do so.

Nick’s bad blood towards GSP is nothing new, but fans may be surprised to learn that UFC commentator and former St-Pierre training partner, Kenny Florian, actually agrees with the “Stockton Sluggers” notion:

“I actually think he’s right,” Florian said Wednesday on “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1. “Any champion or fighter always wants the odds to be in their favor,” Florian said. “For him to go up in weight at 185 pounds and fight a guy like Anderson Silva who many consider the greatest of all time, well, I think it’s a smart decision by Georges. Georges wanted to fight more at a catchweight of 175 (pounds), maybe even 170 pounds, where it would be in his favor.

“So is GSP scared? Yes, and that’s also what made him one of the best champions of all time.”

Nick Diaz will meet Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 183 this January in Las Vegas.
