With just a few seconds left in the 5th round of Jones vs. Cormier, Jones put his hands up in celebration. For unknown reasons, Cormier let go of Jones leg and gave up on the takedown and began to walk away, Jones landed a clean punch on DC before the final bell rang. The bell sounded, signaling the end of the fight, and DC threw a combination at Jones that missed the champ, but hit referee Herb Dean.

Jones then made the ‘Suck It’ gesture towards Cormier, made popular by Triple H and Shawn Michaels on WWE.

Jones explained his actions at the UFC on FOX post-fight show.

“Well, I put my hands up. I was surprised Daniel didn’t attack me because we had more time in the fight. Once I realized that he let his guard down, I snuck in two punches before the bell rang.

“After the bell rang, he snuck in a few punches. I don’t think any of them hit me. I think he almost hit Herb Dean. That’s why I gave him the ‘suck it’ sign, because he tried to hit me after the bell.”
