Jon Jones/Glover Teixeira Get Surprise Drug Test From Maryland Commission

By BJPENN.COM News - April 2, 2014

Ahead of their UFC 172 bout, Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira, were tested today, at random, by the Maryland State Athletic Commission.

The event, at least for Jones, took place nearly live, while on UFC Tonight this evening.

“The Maryland Commission sent a lab to drug test me and I’m glad they did,” said the champion, while on the air, this evening. “It was urine and blood. They had a test for HGH, I think it was HGH, then they had a urine test that detects all other type of stuff.”

Jones also disclosed that it was it his request the two fighters get tested.

“It’s great to know the athletes who are competing are competing clean. I’ve never taken any performance enhancing drug,” Jones continued. “I’ve probably fought people in the past who have. I want to see our sport be a clean sport. I have no right to accuse (Glover) of anything. The only edge you should have is your work ethic.”

Jones also stated he hopes they come back one more time at random to test him and that they do the same for Glover as well.

Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira face-off in the UFC 172 main event set for April, 26.
