Jon Fitch Blames Athletic Commissions For Rousimar Palhares Incident

By BJPENN.COM News - September 17, 2015

It would make sense that former UFC welterweight Jon Fitch wouldn’t mind taking a few shots at the currently indefinitely suspended WSOF fighter Rousimar Palhares. After all, it was Palhares who injured Fitch’s knee and forced him to sit on the sidelines for almost a year.

But no, Fitch actually says he wouldn’t mind giving Palhares a hug, no really.

He told MMAFighting that he blames the athletic commissions for Palhares’ actions.

Here’s what he said:

“I don’t blame Palhares. I’ll give him a big hug and I’ll stand by his side and fight for him through the fighters’ association. But the fault lies within the commission.

“He was never disciplined, he was never disciplined appropriately, and that’s why he continued to do what he was doing. If he was appropriately disciplined the first time, he would’ve been forced to do the proper steps to make changes. That never happened. So he continued to make the same mistakes because he’d never been forced to rectify them.”
