Jacare Souza Wants Title Fight After Mousasi Rematch

By BJPENN.COM News - June 20, 2014

Gegard Mousasi and Jacare Souza first squared off in Japan in the DREAM middleweight tournament final.

Mousasi was able to finish the fight after an up-kick halted the attack of Souza, ending the fight in its tracks.

With a new fight set between the two, Jacare is not only eyeing a chance at redemption, but a shot at the UFC title with a win.

“I was waiting for a tough fight. I knew I could possibly fight Gegard Mousasi, or maybe Luke Rockhold, and I’m glad the UFC gave me this fight. I hope I can do a great fight and get the win… He caught me because he was better (in the first fight). He found an opening and connected the kick. He was better that night and that’s why he defeated me…”

“After this fight, there’s no other option (but a title shot). Vitor (Belfort) is the next in line, no doubt about it, but he has issues with the commission and I honestly can’t understand what’s going on. He has yet to get a license to fight in Nevada, but I’m here.

The two middleweights square off  in the UFC 176 co-main event.
