Frank Mir receives TRT exemption for UFC 169 bout with Alistair Overeem

According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has been granted a TRT exemption for his UFC 169 bout opposite “The Reem.”

The former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir, is trying to escape from a three-fight losing skid. His most recent effort saw him lose to Josh Barnett at UFC 164 in Milwaukee by way of first-round KO. Prior to the Barnett loss, Mir had suffered defeats to Daniel Cormier and Junior dos Santos respectively.

Meanwhile, the former Strikeforce and Dream heavyweight champion, Overeem, has dropped his past two fights, both by way of knockout. Both of those losses, came in fights where “The Reem” seemed to be getting the better of his opponents (Travis Browne & Antonio Silva) before inevitably suffering defeat.

UFC President Dana White would not say if the heavyweight bout is a loser leaves town match, but one thing is certain… This is a huge fight for both men.

Do you think being on TRT will help Mir get past Overeem? Let’s hear it Penn Nation!
