Following Suspension Nick Diaz Must Once Again Earn Title Shot | UFC NEWS

By BJPENN.COM News - October 18, 2012

Nick Diaz last saw action on the losing side of a decision to Carlos Condit for the UFC’s interim welterweight title.

He has since been suspended for testing positive for marijuana metabolites and forced on the sidelines to wait out the terms.

The former Strikeforce champ came into the UFC for a shot at GSP’s welterweight title but after a long documented list of poor decision making during the fights promotion was forced out of the bout.

He took his return to the UFC bout against BJ Penn and won but at the time of victory welterweight champion GSP was out with injury and unable to put up his title.

During yesterday’s UFC tele-conference members of the media asked the UFC president, Dana White, if Nick will get a chance to face the winner of the UFC 154 main event between champ and interim champ.

“When Diaz gets off of suspension, he’ll probably fight against one of the top guys at 170 pounds, and then we’ll see what happens,” White said on the call.
