Faber vs. Assuncao Set To Headline Brazil Fight Card

Faber wins - 181
According to a report from Brazilian news outlet Globo, a key bantamweight fight between Urijah Faber and Raphael Assuncao will headline March’s UFC Fight Night 62 event in Brazil.

UFC officials have yet to confirm the news but are expected to do so in the very near future.

Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber has gone 6-2 while fighting under the UFC banner. Both of the “California Kid’s” octagon losses have come to former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao. Faber is currently riding a 2-fight win streak, and a win over Assuncao will likely boost him back in to title contention.

Meanwhile, Raphael Assuncao will be looking to extend his already impressive win streak to eight when he faces Faber this March in Brazil. Assuncao was last seen in action this past October, where he scored a unanimous decision win over Bryan Caraway. Assuncao already holds a victory over current UFC bantamweight title holder T.J. Dillashaw.

UFC Fight Night 62 takes place March 21 live from Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is expected to air live on FOX Sports 1.
