EXCLUSIVE | Louis Fisette’s TUF 18 Fighter Blog Week 4

By Chris Taylor - September 26, 2013

Louis “Petit Pain” Fisette (6-1 MMA) is one of the youngest talents in MMA’s rich 135-pound division. The 23 year-old Canadian bantamweight is a contestant on this season of (TUF:18) The Ultimate Fighter: Tate vs. Rousey.

Here is what Louis had to say about Week 4 of his ‘TUF’ experience:

This week’s episode starts with a little bit of Man vs. Woman action on team Tate. Some of the girls were complaining that they weren’t being challenged enough by the other girls. This ended up getting to the point where the coaches just decided to mix us together! I had never really trained with a girl my size and who was fine with going hard before. Normally, I train with almost all guys. These girls were game! There’s a clip of Sarah telling me to go harder… So, I did! I mean I still wasn’t going 100%, but I definitely picked it up. Honestly, she took it a lot better than I expected. She didn’t even complain once.

Honestly, she took it a lot better than I expected. She didn’t even complain once.

Another little reason for me wanting to pick it up was because she ALWAYS was talking smack about beating up guys. “I’ll tap you!” or “I almost had you today!” things like that. So eventually it got to the point where enough was enough. I’m going to treat you like the other guys and give it to you.

I was actually really surprised by the girl’s skills. Raquel was by far the best female I’ve ever trained with. Her striking was actually really impressive. I somewhat enjoyed training and being challenged by her. Sarah on the other hand, was not quite as technical, but made up for it with aggression. DANG did she go hard all the time.

In this episode, we see the coaches-feud really start to heat up. I feel like some of the arguing was somewhat excessive. Both coaching staffs said “were here for the fighters” and “we want what’s best for the fighter” but some couldn’t help but pick fights with the other side. I’m not sure who started the majority of the arguing, we didn’t see too much of that side of things. I just think it sucks for us because we were kind of like kids stuck in the middle of a nasty break up. Some people got really upset by the arguing, I just told myself it didn’t concern me, and that was that. I actually found some of the stuff entertaining.

When this fight was announced, I was a little worried about it. Jessica is super tough and hits really hard. I knew that Roxanne would have a chance if it went to the ground, but I was still somewhat worried overall. Roxanne is a little flimsy and more of a grappler. (Not good with punches and GNP) If you punch her, her Jits gets nullified.

The fight starts and as we all expected Jessica is winning the stand-up. Jessica being from a boxing background, that didn’t surprise anyone. Once it got to the ground it just looked like Jessica muscled-out of everything. Slowly but surely, Jessica started taking over the fight. She ended up rocking Roxanne badly with a slam, and after that, it was basically over.

It was tough to see Roxanne lose, but I was more worried about who ‘Team Rousey’ would pick to fight next. Sure enough, they announce me to fight one of my good friends, Davey Grant. I knew Davey was going to be one of the harder fights in the house, but I was sure I could use my speed to beat him. I think we actually match-up quite well, my speed vs. his size and strength! I guarantee this fight will entertain! Tune in next week to see how the battle goes!
