Diego Brandao fails post-fight drug test after UFC 195

By bjpenndotcom - January 15, 2016

UFC 195 was a rough enough night for Diego Brandao to begin with.

The featherweight appeared to be closing in on what would have surely been a decision victory over Brian Ortega, however a late third round submission from Ortega had Brandao tapping out.

Friday evening news broke that Brandao had failed a post-fight drug test for marijuana metabolites.

The UFC released a statement on UFC.com about the situation:

“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Diego Brandao of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation involving Carboxy-Tetrahydrocannabinol (“Carboxy-THC”) which is a metabolite of marijuana and/or hashish, above the decision limit of 180 ng/mL, stemming from an in-competition sample collected following his fight on January 2, 2016 in Las Vegas,”
