DC Favors Jones Rematch Over Gustafsson Scrap

By BJPENN.COM News - August 13, 2015

Cormier Jones

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is scheduled to defend his title for the first time against Alexander Gustafsson.

Even with that fight scheduled, Cormier told MMAJunkie that if former champ Jon Jones was cleared to fight again before the Gustafsson happened, then he’d tell the UFC to book a rematch with Jones instead.

Here’s what he said:

“If Gus and I are scheduled to fight and Jones was back and Jones was eligible to compete, I would ask (the UFC). I would ask if there’s any way we could get this rematch done, and Alex fight someone else.

“That’s the fight that you want. Any guy in the division would give you the same answer to that question.”

So what do you guys think, if Jones does return sometime soon, do you think he should get the immediate rematch no matter what’s taking place in the division??
