Dana White Says He Will ‘Push BJ Penn to retire’ If He Loses

This Sunday at the Ultimate Fighter 19 finale BJ Penn will look to make his return to the octagon a sweet one by defeating Frankie Edgar. This fight is exciting for so many different reasons. It’s the return of “The Prodigy”, who hasn’t fought since December of 2012. It’s also a new weight class for the former lightweight and welterweight champion, who will make his featherweight debut. We could be looking at a new beginning for Penn with a win on Sunday, but UFC president Dana White has a different plan if things don’t go Penn’s way.

While on FOX Sports 1 on Tuesday, White discussed the fight and said that if Penn loses to Edgar than he plans on sitting down and giving him the talk.

“This is BJ Penn’s last fight possibly,” White said on FOX Sports 1. “If he wins, we’ll see what he does from there, but if he loses, I will actually push for him to retire.”

“It could be possibly watching Michael Jordan playing his last basketball game,” White said. “It could be Tiger Woods’ last golf game.”

There’s a lot of different questions going into this fight but one thing that is certain is that Penn will bring it and fight like a warrior until the final bell sounds.
