Dana White: Nick Diaz wanted to fight GSP in hotel following UFC 137 | UFC News

By Chris Taylor - March 13, 2013

Today, while on Jim Rome’s nationally syndicated radio show, UFC President Dana White told listeners that the long-awaited grudge match between Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz almost happened in a hotel back in 2011.

According to Dana White, after Nick defeated B.J. Penn in the headliner of UFC 137 in Las Vegas, Diaz went looking for St. Pierre in the hotel after the event, seeking an impromptu brawl.

Here is what the UFC President told Jim Rome:

“There’s more to this story that hasn’t been told. Nobody has talked about this, I haven’t said anything about it, but at one of the fights, the one where he really started calling Georges out, he was chasing Georges around the hotel and like yelling at him and stuff. And Georges thought he was going to try to fight him at the hotel. He was just waiting for the elevator doors to open and there would be Nick Diaz. The last fight after he won his fight and was saying all those things in the ring about Georges, he was really messing with Georges bad at the fight and trying to fight him at the hotel. That really pissed Georges off.”

White told Rome the story shortly after discovering that Nick had failed to attend the UFC 158 open media workouts this morning.  The president was not impressed with Diaz’s no-show and stated that there will be repercussions if Diaz doesn’t show up for Thursday’s UFC 158 press conference.

Thoughts?
