Dana White: ‘Commission Won’t Let Brown Make Weight, Lawler Saying He Won’t Fight… But Just Joking’

By BJPENN.COM News - July 25, 2014

Immediately following today’s weigh-ins in San Jose, UFC President Dana White took to FOX Sports 1 with clarity, the plan, and his thoughts.

Check it:

“When Matt Brown came up there he walked over and said, ‘This is crazy, I’ve never not made weight.’ and he had every intention of going to make weight. and now he just came back and the Athletic Commission is not allowing him to do it.

They think that… well… I don’t know… They just said, ‘No.’.

He had every intention of going and cutting the weight and making the weight. He said, ‘This is crazy, I’ve never not made weight.’ and was leaving with the intention of going to cut the weight and the commission told him he can’t.

The kid missed weight, he had every intention of making weight, and he was shocked that he didn’t make-weight so, no [the title implications in this fight are not in jeopardy].”

The UFC boss also stated that Robbie Lawler has been joking back stage about canceling the fight. So, when there are jokes, there’s usually no issue!

To Clarify, White said the winner still gets a title shot, Matt Brown will not be fined and missing weight is the CSAC’s fault and not Matt Brown’s.
