Dana White: Carlos Condit not guaranteed a title shot if victorious at UFC 171

By Chris Taylor - March 14, 2014

Just last week, UFC officials annoucned that if Carlos Condit emerged victorious in his upcoming UFC 171 bout opposite Tyrone Woodley, he would be granted a title shot for his efforts.

However, that is no longer the case according to UFC President Dana White, who promptly ‘nixed’ the idea during the UFC 171 media scrum.

Here’s what the Zuffa Fight Boss had to say via MMAFighting.com:

“I don’t know. We’ll see what happens,” said White. “It’s a great card with great fights, but there’s a lot of great fights at 170 [pounds] on this card. I think pretty much anybody who’s fighting on this card to come off looking great and exciting, anybody can get a shot.

“There’s no guarantees anywhere, ever, in life. They’re going to have to come out and perform. [The welterweight division] is wide open.”

The news likely won’t sit well with the “Natural Born Killer” or his fans, but I guarantee that both Jake Shields and Hector Lombard are smiling.
