When Anderson Silva was trying to decide who he wanted to defend his title against two years ago, he caused quite the commotion when he said he would like to defend the belt against Cung Le.
Le only had 2 wins in the UFC in a total of 3 fights, and wasn’t ranked in the top 10. Silva ultimately ended up fighting Chael Sonnen for the second time.
Le expressed interest in fighting Silva still on a recent episode of The Great MMA Debate Podcast.
“He’s one of the greatest. Sometimes styles matchup perfectly against other styles and Anderson just happened to find his kryptonite in Chris Weidman. It just happened that his last fight ended really bad with that broken shin bone. I’m amazed that he’s back and ready to fight in January.
“For some reason if there’s an opportunity to fight Anderson, of course I would love to fight the legend. He is a legend, I look up to him and it would be an honor to fight him.”
