Ben Henderson wants to fight Rafael Dos Anjos next

By Chris Taylor - October 29, 2013

Former UFC lightweight champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) has not fought since losing his title to Anthony Pettis at UFC 164 in August.

After suffering his first loss in two years at the hands of “Showtime,” which ended his seven-fight win streak, “Smooth” wants a bout that will get him closer to another title fight.

The former WEC and UFC lightweight champ, Henderson, already has an opponent in mind, as he stated while a guest on “The MMA Hour:”

“Were not quite sure who it makes sense to match-up against. Who we want to ask to fight next, we are kind of leaning towards Rafael dos Anjos. We think it would be a good fight with him. It will be entertaining, good fight and the match-up works well for us. I don’t know if he has anyone scheduled in (to fight) or not. I think it might work. I agree with Chael Sonnen, you need to have a name in mind. I’m not going to go so low as to say, ‘Oh, I want to beat somebody up because they are so ugly.’ I think Rafael would be a good match-up, he’s a tough fighter, he’s on a five-fight win streak, I think it will be a good match-up.”

While Rafael may not have the biggest “name” in MMA, Henderson is correct in stating that dos Anjos does have a bunch of momentum behind him, as he is currently riding a 5-fight win streak.

During his current streak, dos Anjos holds victories over Mark Bocek, Evan Dunham and most recently Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

Is this a match-up you would like to see put together by the UFC? Let’s hear it Penn Nation!
