Shlemenko Backfist

Alexander Shlemenko is back! Melvin Manhoef got cracked with a spinning backfist in the second round and was sent crashing to the canvas with his eyes glazed over.

Shlemenko led Manhoef and the fans in attendance into a lull with the lack of action in the opening round. The first two minutes of the fight saw some big shots thrown, but nothing significant connected. Shlemenko pinned Manhoef up against the fence for the majority of the round and dictated the pace of the fight.

Manhoef was eventually able to make it back to the center of the cage in the first, but the round ended before he could gain any momentum. Shlemenko walked into the center of the cage in round two with more confidence in his opponent and it showed in his striking attempts. Shlemenko threw multiple spinning strike attempts and it looked as if none of them were going to connect… until the final strike of the fight.

Shlemenko threw a spinning backfist and cracked Manhoef off guard. Manhoef, as previously mentioned, was out on his feet before he crumbled to the mat. Shlemenko followed up with a couple shots before the referee stepped in and waved it off.
