Anderson Silva Says He’s Haunted By ‘Ghosts’ Of Leg Injury

By BJPENN.COM News - September 8, 2014

Anderson Silva is set to make his return to the Octagon against Nick Diaz in January. The bout will be Silva’s first back since snapping his shin in a rematch against Chris Weidman in December of 2013 when he fought to get his middleweight belt back.

After the injury, many fans speculated that Silva may never fight again due to the gruesome injury, however Silva is ready to prove them wrong.

He spoke with Fantastico about his return.

“I feel no pain at all. My strength is back because I’m back to training. The hardest part is self-confidence, to kick again as I used to.”

“I’ve worked with a psychologist so I can get rid of the ghosts of those horrible moments of that fight, when I had that accident…I’m a little apprehensive in training. I know I can execute the movement, but I end up not doing it for fear.”

“Yeah, I won’t get hurt. I know I won’t get hurt, but fear is natural, I don’t want to feel that pain ever again. No way.”

Do you think we will ever see Silva perform to the same level as did prior to his leg injury?
