Cain Velasquez On Werdum Rematch: ‘We’re Hearing March, In Brazil’

By Chris Taylor - October 2, 2015

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez took part in a fan Q&A prior to today’s UFC 192 weigh-ins in Houston, where he revealed that his rematch with Fabricio Werdum is being targeted for a March event in Brazil.

“Now we’re hearing March in Brazil, so I’m happy about that,” Velasquez told MMAjunkie. “I’m looking to move on, so I’m just happy to get the rematch and that’s it.”

Velasquez (13-2 MMA) lost his title to Werdum (20-5-1 MMA) at June’s UFC 188 event in Mexico City, this after being submitted in the third-round by “Vai Cavalo”. The loss snapped Cain’s four-fight win streak, as he had previously alternated wins over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Junior dos Santos.

Meanwhile, Werdum is currently riding a six-fight win streak, which includes stoppage victories over “Big Nog”, Mike Russow, Mark Hunt and of course the aforementioned Velasquez.
