While Nick Diaz awaits his hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his failed post-fight UFC 183 drug test, he has been staying active in the world of MMA through his social media accounts.

Diaz’s most recent Instagram post acknowledges the importance of dedicating time to training rather than fancy photoshoots. Diaz explains that he never took time away from training and applied himself to training rather than looking good. A Stockton photographer made his way into Diaz’s gym and snapped the photo below of him after a training session and it remains Diaz’s favorite photo to this day. Why? Not only does it look badass, but it is a good reminder that you can still dedicate as much time as you need to training and STILL dish out some good pictures.

Best pic anyone’s ever shot of me never got photo shoots or the UFC trying to make me look good or promote me and I was to busy with 3 to 5 fights a year to do this type of work myself and would resent any one who would because I know they missed training the day that I was working to win big

This guy came in and shot me at my gym for free few years back wish I still knew who he is

3 to 5 fights a year 16 years later some 36 fights crazy top fighters trying to wreck my face all I ever used to think about was weight after a while you realize there’s more to life !

Thanks to this guy who came to #Lodi waited till I was dun training to do a shoot with me

Just got wind its @damage209 thanks again bro I’ll Dm you my #number
