Paige”12 Gauge” VanZant has her sights aimed on the her next competitor “Thug” Rose Namajunas. With under two weeks left until fight night, VanZant is upbeat, positive and composed for the young rising star. VanZant interviews with MMAjunkie.
“I listen to the UFC, I listen to my managers and I let the cards unfold,” VanZant said. “Right now, this is the perfect fight for me and I’m really pumped up for this fight, but obviously after beating someone ranked No. 3 (in the UFC rankings), there’s not very many people above to get to the champ.”
“I’m excited about this matchup, I’m excited to beat someone in the top-five and move up in the rankings,” VanZant said. “It’s a great fight for me and I’m excited for it and I’m just excited to get back in there and excited to get past this fight. I plan on beating Rose on Dec. 10, then whoever the UFC calls me with, I’m going to be ready for.”
VanZant, fighting out of TAM (Team Alpha Male) in Sacramento, CA, is walking into Fight Night 80 not looking past Namajunas. She may have her “eyes on the prize” with current strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk and taking out the #3 will only get her that much closer to an inevitable title shot. This article appeared first on BJPENN.COM
